Director, Advertising Operations

Boathouse (Bh) is looking for a solution‐oriented, data‐driven individual with a proven track record of success in building an advertising operations department/team within a publisher or on the client‐side. The ideal candidate for the Director, Advertising Operations role will have at least 10 years of prior experience in AdOps, digital operations or in the ad tech space.
The AdOps team at Bh will be responsible for delivering on the following day‐to‐day responsibilities:

  • Managing and trafficking campaigns in ad servers, social platorms, and search engines
  • QAing ads to ensure they meet site partner/platform specs and ad server requirements
  • Troubleshooting ad or tag issues with site or ad tech partners
  • Generation and implementation of 3rd party tags in GTM (Facebook, DCM, AdWords, Bing, LinkedIn, etc.),
  • QAing and troubleshooting functionality of conversion tags and tracking pixels
  • Reviewing new media plans and plan updates with media team before trafficking and working closely with the analytics team to ensure plans will allow the accurate, efficient and effective collection of data

You can:

  • Be responsible for a team who provides the day‐to‐day trafficking and management of display campaigns – requiring daily interaction with the media team, analytics department, digital creative/production and external clients and partners to ensure accurate delivery of all campaigns
  • Monitor campaign delivery to ensure campaigns are running as expected and targeting objectives are met,
  • including checking daily reports and providing troubleshooting support for trafficking issues related to creative, publisher implementation, and escalating to third party vendors when necessary
  • Serve as an ad operations expert for interdepartmental questions that may arise and provide solutions; acting as a strategic partner and providing consultation to clients on the correct setup of campaigns, tagging of clients sites, and the use of web technologies to meet client needs
  • Maintain a high quality standard for the AdOps department; ensure accuracy and always strive to exceed client expectations, while still trafficking campaigns
  • Be a knowledgeable resource related to web tracking technologies, tracking platforms and upcoming trends in the space. Required to learn new technologies and systems as the need arises
  • Identify, design, and implement a process for the advertising operations team; keep up to date on internal and external best practices and work to eliminate redundant tasks interdepartmentally
  • Help lead the team to continually identify and implement opportunities for improvement within team processes, supporting systems and communication channels
  • Act as an ambassador of ad operations across the agency. Work with senior leads in other teams to raise visibility, train new starters on process, attend conferences and continually educate teams on recent developments; building advocacy across the agency
  • Build an ad operations team as revenue grows; become involved in team recruitment and interview process
  • Play a role in motivating junior team members to strive for excellence, building interdepartmental relationships, and working towards continuous team improvement

You have:

  • At least 10 years of experience working in digital operations, AdOps or in the ad tech space
  • At least 2‐3 years of experience in building and/or managing a team of AdOps specialists
  • Knowledge of and prior experience using the following platforms (a must):
    • DCM & Sizmek
    • HTML & Javascript
    • Google Tag Manager/Adobe Tag Manager
    • AdWords/Bing, DoubleClick for Search
    • Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Snapchat
  • A tech‐focused background with developer experience
